Hi all was at bisley saturday on the 300 yard line with mark :)
my 3 best groups were 1.645" 1.619" & 1.568" and I had a case separate on me as well today!
my setup is howa 1500 24" 1-12 .308 varmint barrel cases were Lapua fired 12-14 times elcho 17 powder with Lapua 155gn scenar bullet heads
average speed was 2700.
Is there any way of checking if my other shells are ok or is there any early signs of failure?

Fired case stretch.......

1. Examine the fired case for a faint "frost" ring near the base end.
2. If you're full length resizing...you may be pushing the shoulder too far back, causing the case to stretch when fired repeatedly.
3. Avoid FL resizing unless the bolt is hard to close on an empty resized shell. If so...screw down the FL die only .002" and resize.
4. Over 10 firings of a shell that's FL sized has got to suspect for separation, specially if you have to retrim the case more than twice.

IMHO....this practise should be started with fresh cases after the first fire-forming. BTW....nice groups! GOOD LUCK!

Just posted a pic of the case, it was the only one and iv checked the rest and cant see anything obvious
Thanks :) id like to get the groups a bit tighter than that! iv just picked up some TR140 to try tomorrow and
like the elcho 17 I will crono them to see what speed im getting.
