Greetings Shooters!
This coming up weekend on Saturday December 6th, we are ready for another great benchrest shoot!!! As i sit here writing this, yes its a bit wet out. But, after checking the weather reports it looks like beautiful weather for Saturday, with temps into the mid 70’s. Yes, this weather is the envy of all them folks that are shooting indoors with parkas, tukes, and mukluks on. I can think of no better way to get out of the house, get away from the frenzy of Christmas shopping and enjoy a relaxing day with the sounds of airguns whispering in your ears.
We also have some big news coming over the horizon! If you haven’t been to our website yet, and seen all the development of Field Target, well here is your chance!
On January 17th, the inaugural Phoenix Airgun Field Target event will launch! You have been hearing the talk of it coming, and now it’s here! The Rio Salado Sportsman’s range has embraced airgun competition and recognizes the future. As such, we have been granted the use of sixteen acres that sits on the south side of the range for airgun field target! As you know, field target on an international level, is one of the most popular airgun sports worldwide. … And now its here!
Our club is proud to to bring you yet another airgun venue to your local range!
On Saturday December 27th, just after the Silhouette match on Small bore range, we will be putting on a little clinic to get you started for field target. Some of the things we will talk about will include... how the matches are ran, shooting positions, getting your scope dialed in, the differences in classes, and accessories that are commonly used. We can use all the help we can get. If you are interested in volunteering to help teach to courses, please email me!! Go to our website to see all the latest links, and equipment requirements.
Just after the January 3rd Benchrest match, we will be having a work party to help get the field target range ready. We will be clearing trails, and getting the shooting areas ready, clearing spaces for the shooting tents, and seating areas. There will be Boy Scout volunteers out there to help us, and your help is needed too!!! So keep the afternoon open! We will still have the 100m match after the 25m, but if you are not shooting the 100m we can certainly enlist your help!!
And last, but certainly not least….
We are privileged here to be recognized as one of the leading venues world wide for airgun sport. And as a result, SCHMIDT-BENDER has chosen our club to debut it’s new, second generation, highly anticipated airgun Field Target II scope. It has not been released to the public yet, but you can get your hands on it and check it out for yourselves only HERE! This weekend, there will be two on display! The last time these were made public was at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas earlier this year! Hope to see you this weekend!
