I recently moved to Anchorage and am interested in finding out if and what type of Benchrest there is around the area.

Saw you are in Palmer so I thought I'd ask

Thanks Dana

The last I heard, Don Heavlin, and Homer Stricklin are up there in Anchorage (great friends) and fiece competitors. You may look them up as well.

Anything else I can help you with, Paul :D:D:D

None that I know of, other than informal shooting by a vary few people. When the temperature drops so does the interest of people. Lucky for me has been my home range, the only shortcoming is the depth of the snow and tring to get through the 100 yard swim to the range. If you are going to be in Anchorage then the only range open to you close to town is Rabbit Creek. What is really needed is a indoor range and the only one available is vary near Palmer. That range is not suitable as it is and old Quonset hut and used for pistol more than anything else by the general public and some of the locale clubs. The only suitable range is and out door range about 30 or so miles from Anchorage and is a range for just about everything (Birchwood) This is and outdoor range.

Now if you have and Airline pass and travel costs you nothing you will be good to go for the summer season down south. If you have major money to attend matches in the lesser 48. Yes it is a major interest (for a few people) here but and interest that seems to have no easy way to find a solution for.

No matter how many people would like to attend matches at and indoor range (if there was such a place) You still have highway condition than can and do spell the success or failure of weekend matches.

Welcome to Alaska and keep in touch.

Thanks Al and all

I don't have the money to be flying anywhere for a while so I guess I will look into the range here and have some fun shooting there.

Al I tried to send you a PM but it said they were turned off.

Thanks Dana

Homer is trying to get out of Arkansas and wants to move closer to his buddies, Arnold Jewell and Kris Whitman, in the New Braunfels area of Texas.
