What have you guys found to be the best way to transport/ carry your one peice rest to a from your motor vehicle. I have a pappa's rest and ideally, I would like to carry it in something with one hand and the gun case in the other hand at the same time.
any imput appreciated and pictures would be a big plus.
Thanks Jason

Jason,

Any rules against using something with wheels?

Here in Australia, there's a lot of inexpensive soft airline luggage with zippers & drag handles that can fit about any load you want. I use my old carry on bag to move my F class rest, ammo box etc around, so you should be able to find something.

The rest weight is 31 pounds .I was looking into something that has hard sides all the way around with a locking lid /catch and a heavy duty handel to take the weight.
Been to the hardware to look into tool boxs with no luck
Thanks for your reply

Cabinet Shop

Go to your local cabinet shop, and have them build you a box with wheels. Then buy you a bigger gas guzzeler to haul it to the range.

Hmm... I just pick up my Pappas rest with both hands and carry it to the bench and then go back for my rifle and ammo bag, then go back to get my flags and stands and anything else I need. I guess that is where backing up to within 20 or 30 feet of the benches comes in handy.

flight proof

wings and clay WC222

take the top off and build some hard foam narrow around it and it works fine

you take the soft foam out

I can send a picture if you wish to you

cost $130 at sportsman warehouse

but 100 extra to send to canada as the kids pack it in a golf bag box and send it courier unstead of usps

and that WAS NOT PRICELESS

I have a pappas as well

oh my god...

you've got to be kidding me!! how many hands do you have and how many things are you wanting to carry??? 2 and 2!! gun in ONE hand... rest in the other. do you need instructions on how to put one foot in front of the other one?? some of you guys really amaze me. this is by far one of the most entertaining threads that i have read. couldn't wait to respond. VERY EDUCATIONAL!!! :p:p:p:p

COME ON BILL! Even in my current busted up condition I can carry the one piece with one hand. Rifle in other hand provides nice balance.

Shame on you.

Problem creating, problem solving!

Look, it is simple.

Put your rifle in the rest, your bullets and bore cleaner and cleaning patches in your pockets, your wind flags under your arm, your cleaning rod in your mouth, your stapler in your belt, and your chair or drummers stool under your other arm now pick up the rest with the rifle in it and carry it over to the bench.

Let's not make this complicated.

It is the obvious solution that always evades people  :p

Jason,

I don't use this box to carry my rest to the range, but it sure is nice to store it in.
