Allen Arnette makes a good bullet. HE is a member of the Hall of Fame. THAT SHOULD SAY SOMETHING ABOUT HIS BULLETS. Good Luck in finding your answer.

If you are going to mess with a puny 6mm then I like the Cheek BT.

There are some of the Arnette bullets in the classified ads here and on 6br classifieds.

Many excellent choices out there. I've been using the traditional 68 gr. Berger flatbase #24411 for a very long time now in a 6ppc and several 6BR's: my standard "go-to" bullet for 1,2 & 300 yds.

Good bullets

Bart's, Hottenstein, Bishop, Bruno, Berger to mention a few.

If up in Canada like I am we are fortunate to have our own Opel bullets.

Use the link on the first page of this site to go to the IBS site. You can then look at group match results, and the equipment lists will show what bullets are winning.

Francis and Butch had it right.
At a recent match, I was using a barrel that didn't show me much, and this... after it was half way through it's life. I changed to a bullet that barrel had not seen. It came alive. Makes you wonder what you've been missing from when it was new.

I had my 6MM BR built by Clarence Hammonds and since he already had a load developed for his bullets, that's what I've been using. I've tried other match and varmint bullets and nothing shoots as well. Bergers come close and do a better job on varmints but they don't shoot like Hammonds. I also think I may be at the point where the gun can shoot better then I can shoot it. High 1's on a good day.
I've also heard something about a new world record set at Williamsport, only rumor.

It's true you have to try a few before you find the "best" but I would guess that the ones most often found to be best would be those which are hand swaged by people who are shooters and don't really MASS produce. Among those, you'd not be wasting time to try some made by Don Lahr at Precision Ballistics LLC. He's online.

I have not used Don's bullets for anything other than BR shooting, I don't think he makes anything intended for hunting varmints.

bullet - chamber combos that work well together

I'd be interested in folks opinions on some good alternatives for 6ppc benchrest bullets that might work well with chamber reamed 1.515 trim length and the .060 FB. Assume Kreiger or Bartlien barrel, 13.5 twist and .237 bore. Just as a side note, chamber specs seem to be important info not published in equipment list match reports. More info on chamber specs - bullet combos might be well received on this forum.
