Berger - 6mm column bullets

I understand the premise behind these. That said, does anyone have a photo of one that's cross-sectioned? I have some 6mm's on back order and will cut one and post a picture when they arrive. Just curious to know if it has been done already.

"Sleepy Bullets" as I call it............. They come out of a barrel (in the range of twist that's suited for the bullet) dead stable.. Dead asleep.

Years ago with my 6mm dies / 22 dies, I tested extensively... I found that the most widely stable/tune unsensitive bullet was a core that seated to >just< hold the point shape during point-up... "About 55 - 60% up the jacket"... Any less core in the point area would cause a failed point (semi crush/major dimple/crease along the begining of the point forward of the bearing surface.. )
The whole point is to EITHER.... Keep the core as far down the jacket that holds the point... OR Have the core cut to squirt up the point to juuust inside the meplat.... Both ways keep the lead core away from the "mid-line" of the point where the lead can be "mis-distributed" and or "fill the point flutes/creases" >unevenly<...And the dome or peak of the forming lead tip in the core domes irregularly in the flutes/creases from bullet to bullet...

The Columns SHOOT, I do see them as a "Sleepy Bullet".. Right with my little 6"X"gr 6mm pills... May be a tinnnny bit better:cool::eek:
And no I don't have a sectioned bullet...

Good shoot'n Lee,
cale

Thanks for the feedback and I'm eager to try Berger's columns.

Incidentally, we made our own 22 and 6mm bullets briefly back in the early 90's. There's a real art to forming them and in the end we decided to leave it to the experts.
