I found a supply of Berger 6MM 71g BT at a local gun store I have never seen these listed on Berger's site. Does anyone know when they were produced, why the odd weight?

Ed,I have some of these myself,I don't know when they were made or why the odd bullet weight. One thing I do know is that you need to shoot them in a barrel with the right twist or you will get some serious key holeing. I have got some good groups from these but have never seen any of these listed for sale.

Tom,

What is the right twist? I have two 6mm BR's with a 1-12, I would think that is fast enough. I also have two with 1-14, in my mind that may be close. The 1-14's currently shoot the Berger 68g FB, and Sierra 70g HPBT just fine.

Ed,I have rifles with the same twist as you and the ones with the 14 twist did not shoot these bullets well at all. The 12 twist rifles did very good with them, just keep in mind all rifles are different, just try them out.
When I said the 14 twist rifles shot bad with these,I mean really bad, group was more like a shotgun pattern.
Good luck...........Tom

OP,,just wonderin why they are tuff to stabablize...I shoot as heavy as 80 gr in my 14 twist BR's,,?...Roger

I don't think it is the weight of the bullet as much as it is the design, this bullet is more like a low drag bullet than a standard bullet. All I can tell you is that I shot them in a Sako varmit with 14 twist that would not group, and then in a 12 twist Savage that shot very good...........Tom
