Berger 30 cal. 168 gr. VLD seating depth

Would someone care to suggest a starting seating depth for a Rem 700 308 Win using Berger 168 gr. VLD bullets. I need some guidance here to avoid a too long ladder procedure. And also, I know that 100 yards may not be the best sight in distance, but I need to see what the bullet is doing. They are all over the place right now and I think it is seating depth.

Jammed; .005 off; 010; .015; 020?????

I have them on the lands, but getting lousy results sighting in at 100 yards.

I'm thinking about going to Palo Alto in Donaldsonville, La and seeing what I can do at 600 yards. But I need them to do what they are supposed to do.

Thanks

Roy

my 175's shoot well at the lands...but bergers has said to try way off the lands......big jump makes them work too.....

I would think that a VLD is a VLD is a VLD. Try jammed first and then try -30, -60, -90, and -120 off as per Berger.

I have never tried them, so mine is just a guess. Take it for what it is worth.

Good luck, and let us know how you did,
Tod

Berger VLD's

Thanks guys. I forgot about Berger's web site until I read your posts. They verified everything you mentioned.

I'll try that this weekend or next week at 100 and 200 yards. I need to get some 30-06 cartridge boxes. Those dang long Bergers won't let me close the 308 boxes.:(
