Is it a good idea to have your benchrest rifle as heavy as class rules allow. If so where would the added weigh be placed to gain the most benefit I shoot USBR and my heaver rifle feels better when shooting. Thanks....

Balanced in the middle of the action is ideal.... But a touch butt heavy is good.

Some, myself included "give-up" a few ounces so that making weight on various scales (match to match) is a no-problem.... Sometimes checkweights are.... Well not ON weight and scales "drift".
