Hi I'm new to the forum and accurate .22's I have the option to buy what the owner calls a Anschutz champion model 64 .22 says it has custom peep sights. Looks very nice my question is, is this going to be an accurate set up and do any of you guys have any input on this model. I can't find any info online about it. Is the model even real? Any advice would be nice. I can get the rifle for about $600. What do y'all think?

It's not going to be competitive for any but local club shooting. Sights are useless for bench work and the stock is tough to shoot from a rest setup.

Chandler, that would be considered an entry level position rifle and is not (as Tim said) a benchrest rifle. I don't keep up on the prices of position rifles but that seems to be a reasonable price. Good luck on your journey of accurate rimfire shooting. I started my journey of looking for an accurate rimfire with a Remington 541 THB and then a Cooper 57M. It doesn't matter so much where you start out but where you end up. Your budget and your interest will determine the nature of your journey. If you are interested in rimfire benchrest, look for a good used rifle in the classifieds here, lurk here and learn some but more importantly go to a match, talk to the shooters and start your fun. You will need to spend more than $600 for a good bench gun, but if you are just looking for a .22 that is more accurate than your average .22 to have some fun with and are not concerned about winning, it could be your starting point.

Ill probably just use it to improve my trigger control, breathing and long range rimfire shooting and hunting. I honestly do not think I will ever shoot competivly unless its just between buddy's.

It looks like a nice unit, In the pic I can not see the rear of the action so can tell if it is a 64 or a 54. Never heard it refered to as the name you gave. $600 for a 54 action of mfg in the last ten years is ok, more than that a bit high. Custom sights- the orginial set sets would make it worth that if not ? Model series is what you need to make a definite decision 14xx are 64 style actions if I remember correctly that being the lesser of the 2 series, 16-18-19xx are 54 round actions 20xx flat bottom action. There is a world of difference between the 64-54 one major area is the trigger. The 54 action triggers are far superior to anything on 64 series actions. Serial # should tell the tale with an inquiry to Anshultz.

a 54 is your best bet far superior to a 64

$ WISE you are far ahead with a 54 trigger wise
a 54 action in my opinion is as good as they get
after market actions are extremly high.

a 54 will do the job, they sure have been for me.
good luck ,lots around since shooters are buying after market actions.

will save you a bunch and is a great action for all around shooting.
