BAT Stiker Assembly

I have primer material from piercing a primer lodged in the bolt/striker assembly. This is a BAT model B with the bayonet style twist to remove assembly. I was going to St Louis and this caused me to cancel this weekend. Now I need to get this repaired as Midwest is next weekend.

The assembly was very hard to get out of the bolt body, and after thorough cleaning and air pressure I still cannot replace it back in the bolt without binding. I would like to know how to correctly dissasemble the striker assembly and give it a good cleaning. I believe the culprit piece of trash is between the firing pin and the housing of the striker assembly. Is there a gunsmith who can help, possibly someone I can send it to and turn it around in a few days?

An explanation of how to do this would be very helpful as well. I don`t want to mess up the protrusion, and adjustment.

Thanks for any input, it is certainly appreciated. Tim

Grab the bolt body in your left hand, with the striker end facing you. Turn the striker housing 1/4 turn clockwise and it should "unload" when the grooves line up. The firing pin and spring assembly will pull right out.

Line things back up when you're done cleaning, and hopefully you found the blanked primer piece, push it back in place and turn 1/4 turn left.

If you've tried to fire with that primer piece getting hammered inside the bolt, it can be a pain to get out, sometimes.

I noticed the binding on dissasembly as the sriker was lined up and it wouldn`t lift out at all. I got to tapping it on the floor and noticed the gap getting slightly wider between the handle and the shroud, I could finally get a flat blade in there and give the slightest twist and she came apart. Now the difficulty is bad to terrible binding on returning it home after the notches are aligned. The firing pin spring does not compress easily without a good bump to ge things going if pushing the firing pin against a sturdy object. I feel I need to dissasemble the firing pin from its housing and clean thoroughly.

thanks for this tip, I needed such info today!

Inadvertently unscrewed the striker housing from the bolt body while cleaning the bolt today on a BAT multiflat action. Remembered this topic being discussed recently, Googled for "BAT bolt disassembly", and ta-da!

Thanks gents!:D
