Bat DS

Which BAT actions have the same thread/tenon as the DS? In other words, if a barrel was chambered for a DS - will it work with other BAT (or other manufacturer) actions?

I'm going to assume that just because another brand has a 1.062 tenon and 18 tpi twist, the barrels would not fit? For example, the Panda has 1.062 tenon and 18 tpi, but probably a different cone angle or breech face? (Pardon me if I use the incorrect machinist terminology.)

Tony- I am not sure what you are planning to do but if it is to put barrels chambered for a DS on other BAT actions or put barrels chambered for other action on a DS they may not interchange. But you would be best to talk to BAT because both early DS actions I have also have the bronze insert in the front of the action and the barrels are not threaded all the way to the shoulder of the tenon. On all other BAT actions as far as I know have the entire length of the tenon threaded. I have heard that the newer DS actions are now threaded all the way so they have evidently changed.

I don't recall seeing a bronze insert, but I can find out.

What I'm planning to do..... Well, if a good deal comes along on a used BR rifle this fall or winter - it won't matter. But I have some barrels that were chambered for a DS, and I might want to consider that when making a choice. A couple are definitely worth the hassle of rechambering if necessary because I've had the opportunity to see what they are capable of. On the flip side, one shoots on a Savage like it did on the BAT - mediocre to good at best - not great. Great for varmints, but not targets.
