Guys it is time for a new barrel for the 6br rifle i have and i have a chance to buy a couple different makes of 6mm 8 twist barrels. I was wondering what the general thought is on this 5R rifling in these 6mm bartlein barrels. Im sure they are fine but does this 5R thing offer anything a standard 4 groove krieger doesnt? How about a .236 bore Brux? Those are my three choices. bartlein .237 5R- Krieger .237 4 groove, or a brux .236 4 groove. I would be happy to own any one of these barrels as they all are well made but i was just curious if there is an advantage or anything special about any one of these three barrels listed, currently? I have a Bartlein 5R that i'm using on my Light 1K BR gun. I would not say there is any advantages to a 5R other than it seems to clean up better. Then again, each barrel is different and each person has their own opinion and thoughs on what works best. I say pick one and shoot it...they all are good. For my next barrel, I want to give a Brux a try.

I have shot a few Brux barrels now and they all shot well but i couldnt ever get the 107 sierra to shoot in those tight 236 bores. I dont shoot much long range so it takes me a while to wear out a barrel but i have and now its time to buy a new one. Like you say, they are all just fine. I just like to study my purchases. thanks lee

I ordered a Bartlein last week and got the 4 groove. It will be my first. I use Brux and Krieger so I will be learning as I go on this one.

well i made my choice. I choose the bartlein 5R 237 bore barrel. Why? No real reason. My studies concluded nothing really. I asked a couple veteran long range fellas what they though, and went off there advise. I shoot the 600 yard stuff just so i can spend time with a couple good friends of mine. I dont shoot it often enough to probably ever get successful, but that doesn't mean i wont try like the dickens. Thanks fellas for your time! Lee
