I want to thank Joe Meyer and crew for putting on an excellent match. For those who didn't go you really missed out.

I also want to thank "The Arkansas Long Range Mafia" a.k.a. Jimbo Fowler, Matt Owens and Dusty Stevens! These guys were part of the core of shooters who were pushing me to make long range bullets. For the match they provided everything I needed to shoot. All I brought was a set of ear muffs and a spotting scope. Turns out I didn't even need the spotting scope.

Jimbo and I double up on his rifle. The rifle is a Bat MB, MacMillan stock, bartlein 7.5 twist barrel, chambered in 6 Dasher by Dusty Stevens, Jewell trigger with a March scope. Jimbo loaded close to 200 rounds for us to shoot. I believe the load was 33.5 of Varget with my 105 grain 6MM bullet.

I was feeling a bit of pressure to say the least. With this being my first long range match and shooting my new bullets. As it turned out Jimbo's gun was laser like. I made a few mistakes but the rifle shot well enough to get the win for the F Bench portion of the shoot with a score of 596 33X. Jerry Kloeppel scored a 596 23x for second.

Matt and Jimbo were tearing up the X ring in F Class Open. Matt managed 37X and Jimbo 31X. A few dropped points cost them dearly.

A great shoot and a great time!

We had so much fun- the st louis crew is second to none at facilities and putting on matches. Bart showed us how bench skill applies to all the different classes with his "super man-like" skill in the wind. Congrats bart!

I am not familiar w/ F-class Bench open. What are the rules, target size etc. Thanks, James

James's this was 3 20 shot groups for score. Match 1 you had unlimited sighters. Matches 2 and 3 you only get 2 sighters. Once you start shooting for record there are no sighters.

The X ring is 3 inches outside to outside dia and the 10 ring is 6 inches.

There is always something to do. You're either in the pits pulling targets, scoring or Shooting. Lots of fun!
 
Its a way to con us old fogeys and broke down folks into shooting f class. Not many matches offer this way of shooting that we'll do but hopefully it gets going more. By the turnout id say every match needs to offer it
 
These new bullets are true "match grade". I had a few rounds left from our last 600 yard match and decided to shoot them at 100 yards today. After getting on target at 100 yards, I had four rounds left. I shot these into a 0.125" inch group for the four shots. These were loaded with 32.0 gr. of Varget and the bullets were jumped ~ .010 to .015" in my Bartlein Dasher. Good shooting...James

How does that Mcmillan f-class stock feel from the bench? I like that stock and I think I will go ahead and purchase one for my build. Id like to keep my weight under 17lbs so I could shoot an occasional 600 yard match. I know that stock is really wide in the back end. Does it do as well on the bench as it does the ground? Obviously Bart did fine. thanks Lee
 
Make sure its the right stock with the squared off forend. They make a different one i think simply called an f class stock. Way different design.

Skeetlee,

The stock felt and shot great! It also tracked extremely well. You could pull the thing back and forth and it stayed in the same spot. It truly tracked like my railgun.

It takes a bit of work to do that tho so dont expect it to run like that out of the box. I think its a good quality and i incorporate it into any stock i do that doesnt have to conform to rules like a varmint class

indeed a great bullet!

about loaning rifles to "friends"...
i had a match won, loaned my rifle with my ammo to a friend....
and yep he beat me!
