given a lv rifle and a bat action how long are the barrels that you would use on a rifle?this is a average length.is there a length that is strived for to get the most out of the harmonics of the vibrations of the barrels?

Pick a barrel weight class, LV, HV, #7, Bruno Medium, etc. Then chamber to a length that brings your weight class up to max, LV-5#4oz for example. On a Leonard stock, Panda action I need 5# 2oz to get 10.5# for a LV gun as an example. See how your gun/barrel assembly shoots and handles at the weight barrel you picked. Sometimes you might have to go a few ounces lighter for best accuracy.

The point is, BARREL LENGTH , per se, in centerfire benchrest don't mean squat!! Its the total assembly that counts.

does the ppc in 6 mm need a certain velocity to shoot small groups that you strive for,say 3250 to 3300 fps?i saw where some are at 3400 with 65 grain bullets.
just looking for some imput on br shooting.again thank you all for your time.

Gary i have 2 identical 6ppc guns they both shoot good,but they both dont have the same load. One likes 29.1 gr of 133 and one likes 30gr of 133 With a 68gr. Me personally I like to start my loads at 28grs of 133 and work my way up. only Your gun will let you know when your ther, i do not know what the velocity of my charges are even though I do have a chronograph, i personally think that chronographs can help in fine tuning a gun, its just knowing how to use one to help you get that edge
