Where does one find the formula for barrel weight per inch at the muzzle and chamber ends for light and heavy profile barrels for short range Benchrest.
Thanks for any info.

Dan Liljas old program that ran on BASIC worked best for me. I haven't tried to see if BASIC will even run on Win 7/8? It does run on a laptop I have that was Vista and upgraded to Win 8. I still have a desktop and a couple of PC's running XP Pro and I use them.

Cec, you coming to Fairchance?

Lord Willing I'll be there.

And if I can make weight with my heavy gun--need to loose 3 0z to make weight
HV profile
21.5 inches long--muzzle diameter 0.953
Think I'll just cut 0.5 inches off and weigh!!!
Can just keep sneaking up on the correct length/weight.
Will try using the formulas suggested here--for the 1st cut tho.

I've found its easy to cut more off but real real hard putting it back on!!!!!
Thanks guys

I doubt 1/2" will weigh 3 ounces...I got into a similar issue long ago...fluting the barrel worked..but easier and cheaper ways might be in the stock, mounts, or buttplate..

just my 2 cents worth..

Try the Stock

You might try what Eddie suggested and take it out of the stock or barrel channel. I have a 3/4" by .855", and it weighs 2 oz. Taking too much off the barrel my mess up your tune.

1 Inch =3 oz

3 ounces per inch @.950 will be very, very close, depending on bore size.

Mike
You were spot on.
Finished weight of gun now is 13# 7.5 oz
I'm now legal
Off to the range and break the barrel in and a loading ladder.
Thanks all for the help/input
