barrel shank question

Hi Guys
Looking for rule or "rule of thumb" for the relationship between the barrel shank length and cartridge length ( mag, vs std cartridge)?

Rule of thumb: Shank should be as long or longer than shoulder of cartridge. OEM's especially Remington do not follow this rule of thumb so take it FWIW.

There is no rule of thumb for shank length. Look at the pre 64 model 70's feather weights.
