I've heard of guys shooting dry barrels & some that run some sort of lubricant through it like LockEze ,etc. before shooting a cleaned barrel. What is the preferred way.

I think it's Voodoo

Really.... I like Lock-Eze. One shooter I know, he doesn't use anything and goes naked bullets. Another shoots the whole match with Moly-coated and never cleans. He shot a .22 this past weekend. You've gotta try them all. An when that combination works... Stick with it! Everything in Benchrest is about consistency.

I thought at one time, Tuners on barrels, where BullSh!t. Like Browning trying to get their guns to shot better. Not anymore, I built one and I call it my Harmonic tuner. Because it's built like a Harmonic balancer, on a car. I merely turned that tuner 90 degrees. Boom! I'm all over hell. Moved it back. I went right back in tune. It's a Voodoo science.:D

Before I tried lock-ease. The first shot was a fouler only.
After lock-ease. The first shot is usually a good sighter. And the second follows the first. :)
On to the record........

Take your pick !! Probably 50/50.

D. Additional Cleaning Tips-

1. Each time you clean you may also follow the last dry patch with a patch soaked with LOCK-EEZ. This is a graphite powder suspended in a quick evaporating carrier that coats the bore slightly before passing that first round through a completely dry bore.

2. We are always asked about powder fouling and how to remove it. The only product that we have seen that really does a good job on powder fouling, especially on the carbon ring that forms just ahead of where the neck ends in the chamber, is IOSSO Bore Paste. This is used with a Pro-Shot nylon bristle brush and worked slowly in the neck and throat areas, then slowly down the entire bore. Follow this up with a few wet patches, then dry the bore as usual, and your ready to shoot.
