Barrel heat question

Chuck
I have a question pertaining to a barrel heat. I have a custom XP-100 with a SS Hart barrel and it seems to shoot better once it gets warmed up. I shoot like 10 rounds or so and it starts to shoot. I figure it just likes being fouled but I did not clean it after 25 shots and shot a couple days later and the same thing. 10 rounds or so and it starts shooting.

Is this type of behavior possible from a barrel? If so, this is the first for me.

I have a barrel that I put 5 to 7 rounds down it before it starts shooting and I believe it shoots even better with 30 rounds down it. I can put 35 to 45 rounds down it sometimes and it's still shooting good. The only time I clean is between yardages. Yes! It's been my experience that this type of behavior can be expected from some barrels.

Gene Beggs has told me the reason he doesn't clean often is because his barrel needs about 5 rounds down it before it starts shooting and he doesn't want to clean after each target because he would be putting a lot of rounds through it just to get it to the point where it starts shooting again. He cleans after every 40 to 50 rounds. :)
