I took the plunge and am building a 6 br norma.

My question for your experts out there is...

Shooting within 400 yards at max..So should
I go with a good used 26 inch varmit barrel
.800 at the muzzle or buy a new 26 inch bull
barrel..A bull will fit the stock as I have a 30
inch 308 on it now...Supposedly the used one
has less than 200 through it..1 in 8 twist...
As far as the match's here it is a 30 minute
relay with 20 shots plus any sighters....And
which bullet might you suggest? Thanks..

get a new barrel, nobody will ever sell a used barrel that shoots great, there is always a reason the used barrels are for sale with only 2-300 rounds through it.

a Heavy Varmint contour #17 Krieger match barrel with 8 twist will be enough for any competition.

as for bullets the Berger 105 and 108 are great, and so are the new Lapua Scenar 105L

Krieger

I have three 6mmBR, all with 1:8 Krieger barrels. After working up the loads, they all will shoot inside 2" at 600 yards (no wind of course). To date the best 600 yard score has been a 200-17X.

This cartridge is a really wonder to load and shoot. You will note most recommend using 30 gr. of Varget with a 105-108 gr. bullet. Mine shoot best with the bullets seated for a .020" -.040" jump. I have found the Berger Hybrid bullets are GREAT.

Needless to say, I like Krieger barrels and the 6mmBR.

Travelor and others who shoot the 6mmBr at 600-1000 yds. What length barrel are you using ?? I have a new 6mmBr build going on right now. I have 2 Kriegers for it already 28" long (well on order). Is it better to use a 30" barrel ?? This will be in a LV gun 17lbs.
Thanx again
