Barrel cleaning

Is it possible that you could get a black indication on a patch after brushing with a bronze brush even though there is no carbon fouling in the barrel or maybe even with a brand new unfired barrel?

the link that Louis.J posted says it all, Iosso and JB will stay black and a brass brush can do the same that is why I change brushes each time then I put all 4 of them in my ultrasonic cleaner for the next time and useing Butches will give you a false reading on copper with some brass brushes I called them about it when I switched to Butches they said many people have called regarding patches turning blue after many scrubbings, after about 5 or so cleanings in ultrasonic cleaner what ever is on that brush is gone now no more false readings on copper.

Posted on the other thread but shoulda done it here. If that "black" patch bothers you, run a patch through with "Sweets", wait a few seconds, and patch it dry - no more black.

The black patch doesn't bother me nearly as much as why Sweets eliminates it.
