I bought a surplus machinegun barrel and rechambered it for a Savage model 99. It was very hard and developed chatter marks in the barrel that the machinist couldn't get rid of.
Well, I found a way to get rid of the chattering in the barrel. I put the reamer into the barrel and then when the flutes made contact with the depression left by the chattering I would turn the reamer so that it barely moved past it. I then pushed down into the chamber as hard as I could and turned tontact with the low spot again.
I continued to do the same thing over for he reamer until it made cabout 30 times. I then set the reamer in the bottom of the depression and turn . after about a half dozon tries of this sequence I succeeded to eliminate the chatter marks. Hope this info helps anyone in a similar predicament.
