Hey Virg,
Everything still a go for this Sunday?

Hey Vic,
You Houston guys going to be able to make it up?

I'm planning on being there. I missed the last couple.

Wes ...

Hey Virg, Everything still a go for this Sunday?

According to the calendar ... everything is still a go!

You can always check the date by first going here: http://austinrifleclub.org/.

Then, click on the day, on the Austin Rifle Club Events Calendar, on the right side of the screen.

When that opens, click on the words in bold: 100 Yard Hunter Benchrest.

Pretty neat, huh? ;)

P.S. If you want to check the weather report with wind speeds for the range location, go to this link for Manor, TX [which is where the range is actually located]: http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/outdoors/tenday/USTX0824?dp=windsdp. Looks like it's going to be a nice day.

Austin Match

Vic,
Youse guys don't need to get ready for New Braunfels, go to Austin ! :D

Best,
Dan Batko

"Where are you going and why am I in this basket?"

Well, I'm packed

and ready to go. I sure do love preloading. I even talked Mrs. P1 into letting me drive her mini van instead of that big F-250. Now don't laugh at me. I can get all the way there and back for $45 instead of $85. :)

Not too bad

For the first time ever (not that my career is very old) I won the shoot without winning a single match. I tied 3 matches, and lost all three on tie breakers. Even the 50-5x I shot lost to 4 white outs. Now that's tough. I ended up with a 250-16x, and tied with that. Fortunately this time, I won the ties breaker, and came in 1st. WHEW!!!!! I tell ya. That Ronnie Long 30br is shooting those Conley 116's pretty good right now.

Congrats on your first big VFS win! Who did you beat on the tie breaker? :D

I forgot his name

I'm so bad..... I'm sorry, but I forgot his name. He was on bench 15. Maybe someone will chime in with who he was. He is from Houston, so you probably know him. His son flies airplanes. (was it Dave????)

This was not the first time I've won, just the first time I won the whole thing without winning a single round. I shot a 50-3x, and lost that match on a tie breaker. I shot another 50-3x, and again lost that match on a tie breaker. I even shot a 50-5x, and son of a gun, lost it on a tie breaker. He had 4 wipe outs, and I only had 3. But in the end, I won (of course on a tie breaker). not sure how that happens... I really need to learn the tie breaker system (or just learn to shot 5 x's each time).

Beautiful day in Austin, well run match and nice people. However, it does seem that Austin saves all the wind for the last Sunday of the month. Been there twice now and very windy both times. Windy but predictable, not the switchy stuff we practice in at Tomball.

My 30 is really shooting well and seems to have one of those condition defying tunes right now. It was the 3rd target before I had the nerve to hold that close to the "x", I just knew one was going to blow out.

I came out on the short end of the tie-breaker, so I just have to shoot better next time.

Keep coming back and you'll see the "switchy stuff." As I mentioned, we get wind that comes in from the Southeast, South, and Southwest with a change about every TWO (2) seconds. Also, from the Northwest, North, and Northeast just as quick. THOSE ARE THE REAL CHALLENGING DAYS! Yesterday was a good challenge [but not the biggest] especially toward the end. Congratulations to you and Wes. That was some fine shooting. Art :)

Sorry...

Boy...am I sorry I had to leave this match. But after I set up I realized evacuating about two pints of liquid every half hour wouldn't cut it. Worst case of diarrhea I've ever had.:( I'm OK now, but it sure looks like you guys had a great match.

My thanks to Charlie for running the match on such short notice.

See some of you next month...bowels permitting.
