Austin Rifle Club

Ted, there should be one. Check the website for actual times. See ya there - but if you're a good shooter, then NO, there won't be anything going on at all. Ignore the man behind the curtain!!!

The 257TED is basically a PPC necked up to 25 calibre with the shoulder pushed forward. .075. I use 6.5 Grendel brass to form the cases. But if that runs out I can just fire form in stages using the 220 Russian brass. I use Alexander Arms stamped brass which is Lapua and have never tried the Hornady brass.
It holds just a smidgen less powder than the 25 BR. I developed this cartridge in place of the 25 BR because the gun I had used a PPC bolt face.

I shoot BIB 88gr BT bullets with about 29 to 32 grains of Bench Mark but H322, N133, 8208XBR and any number of powders in that speed range work as well. Normally with these loads MV is from 2800 to 3050. It is a free recoil gun just like a PPC. I suppose you could say it is a modern 250/3000

I use a 1/12 twist and the current barrel is a Bartlein. I am happy with it but I have had 2 Shilen barrels that were just about as good. That twist is perfect for the 88 BT BIB but too slow for the BIB 110. However strangely would work on the older Fowler 110. I had some Fowler 110s as recently has 18 months ago and tried them again and it wasn't a fluke. Those were great bullets and if the the dies come up for sale I will try and get them. They weren't any better than the BIB but you just can't have enough 25 calibre bullets.

I have a chamber reamer if you want to chamber one up and I'll give you some brass and bullets to try and like a good PPC, 25 pieces will last for dozens of loadings.
