ARC 100 yd Match for Score
25 Shooters.......14 VFS, 7 Hunter Rifle, 4 Factory
Yep, 25 shooters made for a looong firing line today. Started with temps in the 80's at 10 am but got hot by match #4. Not a real bad breeze either but it was switchy causing a few points to drop. The Factory Rifle group worked hard to put up good scores but the .223's took charge for 1st and 2nd. Hal Bogatz dominated for 1st with 2 best target's of 50 to get him 245-4X shooting his 223 Rem. Not far behind was John Price at 239-6X for 2nd also with a 223. New shooter Mike Cerekwicki returned this month and placed 3rd at 223-3X with a 308 Win.
We emphasized a Hunter Rifle shootoff this month as some shooters wanted to bring their 'new' Hunter guns. After a lot of moans and groans, Tommy Maedgen claims 1st place with a 247-15X. His brother Bob gets 2nd at 247-10X. 3rd place goes to Larry Neal with his new 30 X 47 hunter and a 246-11X.
In VFS, only the clean shooters went home with the money. 3rd place was Bill Sparks at 250-12X. There was a tie for 1st at 250-19X between Larry Kochanowicz and Big Steve Brown. The tiebreaker goes to Larry since his Match #1 score beat out Big Steve by 1X. Big Steve has won the last 3 monthly matches so don't feel too sorry for him. We got a shout out for Mark Edmunds coming up from Houston area to shoot with us.
A big crowd for sure today made for a good contest. Thanks to all for help with targets as it gets hot at the frames.
See ya'll next month for the August 27 match.....starts at 10 am.
