On a cold winter's day, 12 stout hearted men showed up to brave...which turned out to be wonderful but frustrating conditions. The result:

VFS
1st: Wes Johnson, 250/17X, 30BR:eek:
2nd: Ted Hackerman, 250/13X, 25 Ted:)
3rd: Robert Rongero, 249/12X, 30BR

Hntr
1st: Virgil Howarth, 244/5X, 30HBR:rolleyes:
2nd: Jon Meddings, 243/4X, 30/47
3rd: Curt Gallaher, 227/8X, 30/47

Shivering was the cause for that 1st place Hunter shooter not shooting clean.)chill(

See ya on Jan 30th, 2011,

Virg

Congratulations to Wes Johnson and Virg on their wins and the rest of the shooters that braved the weather at the match...I remember having a match in San Angelo...where the shooters would run (not walk) to the scoring shed as soon as they finished their target...just to get some feeling back in their numb fingers...others left their truck engines running with heaters on as a sanctuary from the freezing wind...

Ahhh benchrest shooters...neither scorching heat or blizzard cold will keep us away from our favorite game...sometimes I wonder about our sanity...:)

Good shooting Wes.
Sounds like you had a cool day to shoot in but it didn't seem to hurt you too much.
Hope you and the family had a good Christmas.
Happy New Year,
Ronnie

Thank you. It's nice to see your bullet maker and your gun smith give you props.

That HV Bat 30br LONG you built me LOVES 40 degree weather. And those Conley bullets just keep me going.

Wes pretty well gave us a whipping in the VFS class.
I feel ashamed that I let a 30 BR beat me.
But the weather was a freezing cold 45 degrees which I consider to be near inhumane. Probably his having been reared up in the north of Texas gave him an advantage.
Ted

Also I wanted to add a big thanks to Virgil for keeping these matches going. With out Virg leading the way we would be sitting at home the last sunday of the month.
