ARMI 50/90 Sharps Quality and IAB Kit Sharps quality?

Gentlemen:

I'm very old at firearms, but brand new at Sharps, so could any of you give me any first hand information about the quality of the Armi Sharps rifles, preferably their 50/90?

And, also, can any of you perhaps share with me any reliable information concerning the IAB Sharps rifle KITS?

I am in the market for a new Sharps, solely for long range competition and plinking. A 45/110 would do, but I'd prefer a 50/90. Because I love working metal, I would even enjoy the kit, but the photos look as though none of the metal has been heat treated at all, and that would make for a whole heap of homework to do!

By the way, I live in Mayo, Florida, if any of you happen to be from this area.

Thank you very much.

I hope I don't sound like a smart ar$e here but .........

I am not sure what your understanding of "Benchrest" is but the rifles used would be about as far removed from a Sharps 50/90 as you'd probably get.

Rather than have people ignore the post or worse have some guy get all abrupt with you for an out of place question, may I politely suggest that asking on some other forum that pertains to this sort of rifle would yield better results for you.

Thank you very much, Butch, for your kind reply. And please forgive my ignorance about your Forum.

You might try here as well. This is the SASS web site. All about Cowboy Shooting and guns of the old west. Some of us do cross over occasionally to other shooting disciplines.

Dr. Neill.
You owe nobody an apology. We may have some guys on the forum that may have some info for you. It does sound like an interesting project.

Mr Neill,

I hope you did not take any offence from my comment about an "out of place question". My comments were meant in a helpful way.

There are a handful of guys here that seem to love to jump down the throat of people that post something that does not relate directly competitive centrefire benchrest shooting. I was just hoping to get in before one of those guys responded to your question.

Good luck.

Thank you very much, Mr. Pendergraft and you again, Butch, you're both very kind.

Of course, I reckon like in all matters of life, you GENERALLY get what you pay for, and so an American built Sharps would doubtless be better than any import. However, I did buy a new Uberti Colt Navy replica .44 pistol some 15 years ago or so, and I guarantee you Colt themselves have never built a pistol of this spectacularly high quality. It's utterly gorgeous! Yet Uberti Sharps are right near the bottom of Sharps price scale, next to Armi.

Anyway, thanks again!
