It was a trigger pulling day with a slight vectoring tail wind that caused at the most, a half ring of difference. Don't ask why no one shot a 250! Virgil had equipment problems and used a borrowed rifle kindly furnished by John Gallaher. The rifle proved excellent and beyond the meager talents of Virg.

Well, see ya all next month.

Virg, what range were you at? It was blowing like hell. Worst I've seen in a long time.

Same range as you...

Same range as you; however, from behind my scope there was only one half ring difference between one flag extreme to the other. The tail wind was strong, but the degree of vector was slight. But...maybe the borrowed rifle was a hummer that defied the change.;)

Looking through my boosted 45X Leupold, I had to hold off as much as 2 rings most of the day and sometimes a tad more.

Invited to look through your 6X scope while you were scoring targets, I was lucky to see the 4th and 5th outer rings much less the inner 3. Imagining where those inner rings lie and a half ring distance between them must take an act of faith of which I'm unfamiliar, especially when that little dot looks as wide as an outer ring. I guess that's where that "other" scope and 40 years of Hunter Class experience comes in. Amazing stuff! :D

abintx,

If you were on bench 11 I was next to you on 10. I agree that the conditions were a tad more challenging than Virgil implies (at least for me!). I tried to PM you about a couple questions I have, but had no joy; if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to know where you got that GREAT stool and your wind flags. PM is fine. Thx.
