ARA scoring plugs

Many of you out there have ordered scoring plugs from the ARA Business Office, but not yet received them. There is a good reason for that. We ran completely OUT of plugs. Right before we ran out, we realized we were low on inventory and attempted to order more. However, we soon found that Rig had ceased making them. So, we had them custom made in brass, and they just arrived today. They'll be going out sometime this week, so if you have some back-ordered, be patient.

For your information, they look just like the Rig plug, except they're made of brass instead of aluminum, and will work with the magnifiers we currently use in scoring ARA targets. They are dimensionally more accurate, made to within + or - .0002" inch accuracy. Actually, I'd like to see everyone buy one and replace all those worn Rig plugs that have been in service for a long time so we'll all be using the same standard plug. Truthfully, the Rig plugs showed considerable variation in their dimensional accuracy anyway.

Price will remain the same: $5 shipped. Get your order in. We have them IN STOCK!!

Great looking Plug

Macky: I saw it in use at the last Cedar Pointe Match, and there were no complaints.

Mackey:

Can anyone order one of those plugs, or are they for match directors only..??

Dave

Mackie,

Could ARA just send one out to each match director? You guys have the list of everyone who should have one.

Just have the match director send in the $5 with the next set of match fees

ARA Scoring plug

Anyone who wants one can order one and keep it in his or her shooting kit. They're not just for Match Directors, although each Match Director is required to have a legal plug for scoring all ARA targets. As I said in the earlier post, it's probably a good idea for all persons who score targets to have one of the new plugs, since the older Rig plugs have probably been subject to some wear over the years, and the new plugs are much more accurate and consistent.

To order, you may send an email to Polly. Her email address is polly60@gvtc.com. Or, you can call her or send a request by mail to our ARA address as shown on this site.

Macky,
That's great their in, we need 'em! I understand you plight. I was able to have a couple shooters bring their plugs to survive this past weekend and they would have continued but this will make it better (just a joke....I thought they were around 0.250" plugs!!!! Ha Ha!).

I am just wondering how an aluminum plug gets worn out plugging a hole in paper?:D:D

O hope our BO'ed plug makes it in time for our 1st Sancationed match, ever! 18 MAY at Howell gun Club, MI

targets

I don't know the process they use to make the target paper but at the paper mill(makes copy paper like Xerox) that I retired from they used a lot of clay (dirt) in the process. Also if you seen what went to making paper one would have to wonder how he ever survived making spit wads to through in class.
