I just got my ARA News....man.....100 pages.......so many results, State Championships, Local results, Nationals, Man.......a great issue.....it would be so nice if all the rimfire organizations followed ARA's lead.........a simply wonderful publication for ARA shooters......

My friends who have got their ARA News.........I looked at the fine pictures of the two outstanding 2500 targets that were fired at the ARA Indoor Nationals............there's someting strange about the pictures of the two 2500 targets?........do you folks see it too?

Bill:

You mean what appears to be two holes in two of the targets..?? Both are 100's, so maybe they were just trying to impress us..

Were They??

Double shots make it impossible to get an acurate plug. You'll also see, that ARA has cured that problem. Now Double shots will result in a penalty. It's about time. No more confusion for the scoring team.

Just came from the range with Alan Bates, testing ammo in "Black Death"

As you folks get your ARA News, look closely at the two pictures of the two, AWESOME, 2500's shot at this years Indoor Nationals........something will jump out at you......has nothing to do with DJ shooting two extra bulls, making his target a 2700...(more on that a little later).......

Bill, I'd have to agree with you.

This ARA newsletter is my favorite each year, next would be the one after the nationals with all of the pictures.

Think the scores have not gone up?.....Look at page 37.
7 outdoor 2500s

Richard Gorham with 17, 2400+ targets,Brian Brandt with 16, Dan Killough with 15 and Joe Besche with 14.

Joe Besche with 52 2300+ targets followed by Killough with 36.

The 2200 club would take up 3/4 of a page.

Bill, what you say is true....it IS an exciting time to be in rimfire benchrest accuracy.

I guess I kind of got off of your subject....regarding the 2500 targets...sorry....the only similarity I see is that DJ was competetor 301 and Dawn was competetor 311.

How did the ammo testing go? Is Black Death going to be a shooter on par with The Duke, and others?

To ALL: If Kathy chooses to answer this, and you think his answer will be offensive to you, please don't read it.

I for one, enjoy being kept up to date on how The SPEC rifles are developing. I believe the Calfee SPEC rifles will become the most valuable rimfires on the plant.

How they were developed will make interesting reading for those that come behind us. So if it somehow hurts your feelings when Kathy talks about them just don't read it. It is really that simple!

Friend Keith23:

We shot Black Death in switching winds, did use flags but it was not good conditions to test ammo....low 30's temp and sunny with snow on the ground and mirage was terrible......

We shot the new PSL target......as bad as the conditions were we found two pretty darn good lots, one Red box and one Black box.....

The three PSL targets shot were nothing to write home about......but with me shooting in that wind and mirage, it could be expected......

The two new lots were double blinded against the best Red box that Alan used last year, which Black Death really likes.....one equlaed it and the other bettered it.......so Alan is buying some and so am I.....

You asked if Black Death is on a par with the Duke Of Earl? That would be difficult to answer......I've produced ten SPEC rifles now and I believe they are all on par with the Duke....I set a standard that I had to be able to shoot at least 2400 ARA with the SPECS before I'd pass them.....All ten have met that standard.....as will all future SPECS....
