I have a Remington 37 that has a brass plate afixed to it. On the plate it says G Ferren North Reading Mass.

Curious about this individual and would like to find out some history about the rifle.

Thanks

Que,

Judging from the rifle he was using he was not just a run of the mill local club shooters. You may want to check the old AR issues from the 50/60's into 70's and Shooters News.

Try Googling G. Ferren North......you might find something you might not.

Google ...George Gilbert Ferren. Mass. Rifle Assoc. ....Gives a lot of info ..He was instrumental in organizing the club and quite a shooter ,also chech out the Newbury Society.on the same page.

Scroll down the page on the Newbury Historical Society about the historical Cane being awared to him.

BJH,
I was just trying to have the person do his own work. I think we both found the person he was looking for....maybe.

BJH I do appreciate your help. I only had "G Ferren North Reading Mass." and could not find anything online at all. again thanks for the "George Gilbert Ferren. Mass. Rifle Assoc." as that got me somewhere.

Carp; the "person" had attempted to do his own work I assure you. What do you come up with when you google "G. Ferren North" as you suggested?

I get a thread on some poor bugger asking a question & taking a hit! Oh, and Brian, Lynda & some footballer............

I only entered George Ferren North into Google and ended up with who knows how many hits. But the important thin was a Classmates hit of early 1960's. That is where your research should of started. G. can only be a certain series of names in initials. That is my point. I never went beyond that because that was your job. You were looking for it. I'm not a searching engine nor a encyclopedia. Sorry for being so crass. Don't mean too.

Well i googled Carp...All i got was Buglemouthed Crass Carp.

Bob,
Doesn't suprise me. Any fish is good with me. I don't care what kind. I see so many people these days that want to use the Internet to find all their info. and now they want someone else other than Google to find it. And they find folks willing to do it. We should just have a welfare google search for anyone that doesn't have the tools right in front of them now that this world is just jelly belly in the left.

sir again I did attempt to find the info on my own. I do not see how you felt you were being helpful with a reply like the one quoted about.
honestly if you have no valuable input into the thread I'd just rather not hear from you.
BJH gave me a complete name; thats what I needed to get started with. I did not ask anyone to do a search for me as I stated "Curious about this individual and would like to find out some history about the rifle".
Had that info came in the form of a link, an individual knowing something about Mr. Ferren or any other bit of info that would have been something that I did not have.
Carp you stated "I see so many people these days that want to use the Internet to find all their info. and now they want someone else other than Google to find it. And they find folks willing to do it. We should just have a welfare google search for anyone that doesn't have the tools right in front of them". I am not someone wanting others to do my searching for me but I did need assistance in finding a good starting point (thanks BJH). Carp just a bit of info for you in ref to the "welfare google search". Try not to get involved in that, you do not seem to be the customer service type.

Que,
I was the first to say try googling any name. You must not have. I gave up no information so that you might try what I suggested. BJH did it for you and that is what you were looking for. Sorry to say that the easiest road is sometimes the hardest for those that think others know more than them. Why didn't you try it in the first place? It was so easy a caveman could do it!

Carp just forget it. I tried and it didn't work for me. I was looking for help and got it from BJH and for that I am grateful.
