There is a Jarrett barreled Annie 54 actioned .22lr BR rifle available but the owner is unavailable and I can't find any info on Jarrett rimfire barrels ( lots on the centerfire ones).

Anyone have any experience with these barrels on a rimfire????

They no longer sell just barrels .... Only finished rifle's now but this Annie was rebarreled with a Jarrett 22lr BR barrel back when they offered barrels for purchase.

Jarrett is the inventor of many wildcat calibers such as the .300 Jarrett for example. He is also an avid BR shooter, barrel designer, and manufacturer of argueably the most accurate hunting rifle's. But, I find no information on his equipment being used in rimfire only centerfire BR competition.

Jim,
I believe that your info on Jarrett is debatable. He bought Harold Broughton's old barrel making stuff when Harold replaced it with new and better equip. That was Harold"s side of the story.

Butch, that could very well be true. The data I have collected has been over the past few nights on the Internet since seeing that rifle. You know how the net is and web searches are not reliable that is why I posted this question to get some first hand information. I do know the previous owner is know for having only the best equipment and was a gunshop owner for quite awhile. He was a very avid BR shooter but illness has changed his priorities.

Jim, before Kenny found heaven with guys he could convince paying 8 grand for a deer rifle he built bench guns although primarily CF guns. At the very least you're probably looking at some pretty old work-technology, hope this helps.

Tim, thank you .... I figured it was done awhile ago but I have no way to find out any specifics being as an agent is selling these guns for the owner due to his illness.

I am concerned because rebarreled guns can be excellent tack drivers or a problem child. Guess I will pass on this one and let someone else find out if it is a shooter or not being as no one here has owned a Jarrett 22lr barreled BR gun.

Probably one additional fact, I was surprised to learn he did ANY .22 stuff. That being said, I don't believe I ever heard of his work winning anything.

JimDE,

Why not call Jarrett rifles at 803-471-3616, and ask them. Seems to me it would take the guessing right out of it all.

Bob, Asking the company about their barrels would be a very bias reply understandably so. I was looking for a users opinion which would be more reliable information.

JimDE,

You are probably right, I was on a bit different point, that is I have several BR Rifles both centerfire, and rimfire, that on the barrel is the name of the smith who installed it, not necesarily the brand of the barrel he installed. Along with the caliber, and Neck Diameter. Example, 6PPC 262ND, Seely Masker. Could be the same with "Jarrett" marked on the barrel. Talking to him you could find out if he made the barrel or installed some other mfger's barrel.

Kenny Jarrett

I am No expert on the subject. Here is my view there was once a little known sportscaster named Howard Cossell then he met a Great fighter named Casius Clay and they both became VERY famous and very rich.
There was once a firearms guru named Layne Simpson who met and wrote about a shooter named Kenny Jarrett and the SHOOTER became very RICH!!!
Jim

Bob, I understand your point now, thanks. I just called Jarrett but they are only open Monday-Thursday.

Hippie, so what you are saying is K. Jarrett obtained recognition for his shooting ability then went into gun manufacturing? Kinda like a pro golfer making golf clubs?????

Problem solved...... Somebody else just bought the rifle.

Thanks again for the replies guys!

There are those of us that know that most of Kennys "shooting prowness" was done with a typewriter . He followed the right people , looked over the right shoulders and was in the right place at the right time to be where he is today . Find a rifle that he has smithed that has won any "Wood" .Yes that is a challange.
Jim

Hippy, In my search this past week I didn't find one win that specified a Jarrett barrel was used whether he smithed it or not. That was my area of concern which led me to asking the forum if anyone had experience with these barrels. When no one replied to having experience on a site whose expertise is high end competitive BR rifles I knew this rifle was not one I wanted to gamble on with my cash and time only to be possibly disappointed with its performance.

The barrel was far to large in diameter to fit a tuner which meant I would either have to have it turned down at the muzzle or always be searching for an ammo that would be just a bit better out of the box. Another negative in a rimfire BR rifle IMO. (yeah I know ..... tuners are not a short cut to accuracy of a ammo to barrel only a way to get the last drop of accuracy out of a rifle but once you get an ammo/tuner combo to one hole it isn't going to get much better with other ammo's no matter how small the hole starts without a tuner) I am hooked on tuners and a believer in their effectiveness with rimfire's.

I am sure there will be more firearms coming out of this individuals personal collection that will have equipment on them that are more mainstream and have a winning record in the BR rimfire game. That was that owners shooting passion and I am in no hurry.

K Jarrett

Kenny was well known for his ability to shoot center fire benchrest, Won a lot of matches and was top Dog one year in NBRSA. A couple of people on this thread seem to want to put him down with their comments, jealousy I guess, If they sat down on a bench beside him and shot he would beat their ASS!!!! sorry Wilbur
