Any other powders for Anschutz .222

Howdy,
Just got back in from the range shooting in -7C temps today  (life in the snow-belt!); but, it was sunny and the wood stove was nice to have in the shooting hut. :) But, I digress. I was down to shooting three powders in my semi-finals (IMR 4064, 4198 and 4895) The IMR 4064 with 53gr Sierra HPBT's came out the best with 5 shot groups (100yds) averaging around 0.45". Not bad, but expectingt better from my Annie 1740HB. Anyone else had better results with other powders in their Annie 222's?
Cheers,
S.

My .222's were always Remingtons and I used BL-C or 4198 in those. My last .223 would shoot just about any bullet over 23 grains of BL-C.

222 Annie

I used 4198 in a 40XBBR model in 222, that I foolishly traded to a buddy of mine. That shot well. Never thought about the BLC2. Use that for loads in my Dad's 223 Rem. Will check into data on that too. Thanks Jerr.

Although

I believe your 0.45 group is outstanding and you don't want to give up, Varget works well in the .222, .223, .222 Rem Mag and .22-250.

748,322,benchmark, 133, 335, Ball C2, 4198....Almost anything in that burning range ....Playing with seating depth, for me, usually into the rifling, will do wonders.

1740 Anschutz

Thanks, John. Just like to get to those proverbial 'dime size' groups.
I have some of those powders suggested by Paul and Allen. Just got some of the VV 133 too. Looks like some more fun experimenting. Might even drop the bullet weight down to 50gr., and see what happens. I'm only punching paper w. the Annie at local shoots, amnd not varminting w. it. Thanks, guys. :)

A classic powder for the .222 was always Re7 for the 52-53g bullets.

Got a Savage-Anschutz 153 that........

likes 23.5 BL-C2 & 55 Hornady SX & 53 Hornady HPs. You also may try H-335, A friend has the same rifle & it takes H-335 very well. All use Rem. 71/2 primers. Work up carefully, your rifle may require more.;)

Annie 222 loads

Looks like I might try that Re7; never tried it before.
Will try the BLC2. Have the bullets, but not used it before in 222. No problem will refer to loading manual for powder ranges. If it works in your Annie, it should do fine in mine too, Brian.
Thanks all. :D
