I am looking at a CZ 17 hornet and there seems to be two different models that seem identical. One is marked "American" and the other one has a slightly different part number and is not the "American". Does anyone know what the difference is between the two?

The stock is european style on the non american. The butt drops off and is not a straight or raised comb

Two different barrel weights and lengths

One is the American, the other is considered the varmint model. The varmint has a mid contour barrel and weighs around 7-1/4 lbs. Both will shoot fantastic, even with factory loads.
All of my CZ rifles are the American and will shoot under 1/2" consistently with Hornady V-Max bullets.
Ask around on Saubier.com about them, and you will be pleased with what you read.
If you are going to use the rifle for PD's or ground squirrels, I would get the heavier barrel. Otherwise, get the lighter one, they shoot just as good.
