Any chance that benchrest barrelmakers would start making .177" or 4,5mm barrels

Hello all!

First of all I need to tell you that I'm European and shoot according ERABSF rules. I want to shoot 4,5mm or .177" because of 20 Ft/lbs or 27,12 Joules energy limit; small caliper pellet weight allows slightly higher speeds which I have found generally preferable...

We have tested different barrels, ranging from Anschutz and Lothar Walther to BSA. All of those seem to have their ups and downs, and we would like to test more of different barrels from other makers. The problem just is, there aren't more airgun barrels from different makers.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a special benchrest airgun barrel, made by special maker (Lilja, Krieger or like)....? I bet it would...

But would it be realistic to hope such thing...?

If it isn't...

I have read that you have tested Bench Mark and Krieger barrels in caliber .22. Would these .22 cal barrels shoot well in 20Ftlbs limit???

Lilja makes one . I tried one and know of 2 more that were tested . None shot to bench rest standards .

.22

I have 2 , 3 groove tight boar rimfire benchmarks that I have shot 250 with at 20ft.Lb. and 35 ft.Lb. I have a Krieger that I have shot 250 with at 35 ft.Lb. . From my experience with custom barrels , they do not guarantee that you we'll have bench rest quality . There are many barrels that we'll do 243 - 247 , but if you get one that we'll to 250 every thing has to be right .

What twist is used in a 22 cal airgun ? I have a 19 twist Suhl 150-1 that is awesome when it's hot outside. I have wondered how the bbl would do for an airgun if we could get a properly sized pellet.

Also, who makes Daystate bbls. I have a 177 CRX that shoots pretty good at 850 fps.
