Seems very rare to see an Anshutz 54 used in Rimfire BR competition.

They are not rare at all.
They are one of the best factory actions out there.
They also have one of the best triggers on the market.

I have a 54 Anshutz and a 52D, both were good in 50ft indoors. Which
would be more preferable in a BR stock and used for 50 yd Br. Both have
great triggers

I would agree that it's rare to see a factory one in BR, and you see less with custom barrels all the time. Most that are out there have had the barrel changed. I figure there's a few reasons. One is lack of closing cam. For the other, you need to slug the barrel (factory). It's a wonder they shoot at all, but they do. But it's a great action. Simple and effective. And they have a great trigger. Even if you get one of the older ones you can easily retrofit the 5071 trigger, which is the 5018 for older guns.
