Hey all ,
i need some advice i had mounted a Bushnell 4200 on my 64 and i ran out of elevation at 100yrds it was pretty much at it's maximum , this was a while ago so don't ask me how may clicks i had in either direction. I was using federal gold match and wolf MT. I Have heard bkl makes a cantilever mount but i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem . it is the only anschutz i ever owned . i have since mounted ther same scope on other rifles and have had plenty of elevation left so i don't believe it is the scope .

BKL does make a cantilever mount, but what would that help? If you run out of elevation but it's just on the Anschutz, sounds like the bore possibly has a significant bow. If you saw any of the barrel indexing experiments, then you know there is a bow in almost all barrels. Sounds like your is a little more notable than most.

Burris Signature Rings ....

One option is to get a set of the Burris signature rings and a set of the offset inserts (5, 10, and 20 moa).

Much easier than trying to rotate a barrel in an Anschutz action.

Is it a factory installed barrel? What brand of rings did you use to mount the scope?

Re: Scope Elevation on M64

Hello:
I've had this situation happen to me before. What I did to correct it is place a shim between the bottom of the scope and the rear scope ring. What worked for me as a shim was the cardboard tab on a rimfire ammunition box.

Adc,

I do this sort of thing with stunning regularity. You would not believe the @#$%$# I am subjected to. Usually by those whom I outshoot with stunning regularity.

IT may work but you know
it not the right thing to do

If you would place a shim (.o10-.o15) under the front base, it should give you enough elevation to sight in.

My 64 has the dove tail and the holes drilled for bases. If your using rings on the dovetail, check this out. The screws used to place in the hole when your not using bases, sometime are to long or not screwed in enough and when you place the dovetail ring over it, it will raise the ring. This happened to me and I only found it when I was going to replace the rings because I thought they were bad. Just a possibility.

He ran out of elevation!
He has to shim the rear base to increase it not the front.

BKL is belly up- gone out of business. The only BKL rings you might find are still on suppliers shelves. The airgunners have been going hot and heavy after what suppliers have left so if you want some you better hurry.

BKL still has a website but they don't answer email and the phone is dis-connected.

I have a ton of BKL rings on many rifles. They are very well made. But I have started to purchase Burris Signature rings mostly because they won't scratch your expensive new scope. Plus they have ring inserts to raise or lower your scope for elevation.

I have two 64's with the same problem. They've both got BKL rings on the dovetails and are just within their limit at 50m. This is not a problem because that's the distance that they're shot at.

My recommendation is to get some screw on weaver style mounts (without shims) and get the burris signature zee rings with the inserts.

I bought a set of these rings for another rifle and realised that they'd be ideal for the anschutz.

The Burris Signature rings are great. A lot of F-class and other long range shooters use them because of the ability to dial in the scope with the offset inserts. A lot of airgunners use them on break barrel guns to optically center the scope.
But the best thing I like about them is they won't scratch or dent your scope housing.
Can you see buying a new Leupold and ruining it the first time you tighten the scope rings? Not me.

thanks for all the replies i am sorry i haven't answered sooner but i have had some family emergencies that needed my attention . i have read all the posts and i think i now have a some understanding and a plan to correct it , i will post the results .
