want to purchase a night force scope for a 50 bmg. going to be shooting really long ranges. i dont have any experience at shooting over 1000 meters. what model would you all recommend. i am looking at their benchrest models but i am worried about running out of adjustment(not much there only 45MOA12-42X, 50MOA on 8-32X). Also what recticle would be good. plan on shooting a little target, but mostly varmints and deer. i am worried about the recticle being to big and covering up the target. i like fine cross hair, but the calibrated crosshair model looks good to, just worried about the hairs being to big. thanks for the help.

Nightforce NXS 5.5-22. 100+ moa of adjustments....Tough as nails.....Good warranty (if you buy it from an authorized dealer) NP-R2 ......A bunch of the 1000 yard target guys use that retical......and thay are kind of "fussy" about stuff like fine crosshairs.;) Mate it up with 20+ MOA basses and you could shoot....well TENS of yards!!!:D:D

Just as Tod said. I have the NF NXS 5.5-22x56 with NP-1RR ranging reticle for varmints and deer size game and +20 MOA base , and like it. It might be thee scope for 50 bmg, as it is tough. I would do NP-1RR or the NP-R2 reticle. The base, not so much for elevation at 1000, but to keep you optically centered. The reticles are second focal plane, and remain the same size always. First focal plane scopes tend to obscure targets with magnification.
