I was on a ammo hunt for some Eley EPS.. and i seen that this vendor had some in stock. So I gave them an email and asked.. How many boxes they had in stock, and what is the lot number.

I got a reply back that said they had 60 boxes.
I replied back and asked what was the lot number
She replied back and said there is a $10 charge to look up lot numbers.

Do you think this is far??????????

If the lot number and machine number was what I was looking for, I would have bought all 60 boxes maybe, but I wont buy one brick if I don't even know the lot number.

Fair? To me its not good customer service. If you feel it is unfair why are you attempting to do business with that vendor? Buy and support those that provide at least a bit of customer service. Eley is in short supply just now. Many of us are frustrated, but lets not blame the vendors who have supported us over the years. They ain't making any money without product to sell. There are Eley vendors (some of them are advertisers and/or post here) that provide good to superb customer service. I hope they can stay in business until product is again available. bob

They should have all that info in the computer. I might buy it all for $8 a box but not for full current price without being told all of the info on the box for free. I don't like being charged extra for normal customer service.

Just the nature of the business. Without knowing the seller I can only imagine that's it's a large internet retailer who sells any and everything under the Sun, plus no one associted with it shoots benchrest rimfire and understands the needs of such. I can only speculate that if they answered that fast as there's a charge for looking at the lot # they get a lot of calls about such and don't want to deal with it. This is why the likes of Dan Killough, Bob Collins and some others who live the life gets business from most of the Benchrest shooters. Supposely there's a large shipment heading our way so if you can hang on you can get it from those that have a love for the sport.

I was just inquiring information because I was looking for a pacific lot number, I would never do business with a company who couldn't give me the info that I needed, its a normal question I would think.

I got the vendor form Zanders list of vendors. I'm new to rimfire BR and I really didn't know if this was a standard practice or something. I am glad its not, because I thought it was ridiculous.

Dan, If there's a particular lot your looking for if you list it here there's always a chance that someone may have some of it and are willing to part with it, what shoots good in one gun may not for another and/or they've gotten something that they feel works better for them. I know that it can be a little concerning to pay money to someone other than a business, but a lot of those here are known in the sport and by checking around you can feel confident that they'll treat you right and/or they may even live close enough to you to have a face to face meeting.

Anyway good luck in finding what your looking for.

Les

It sounds like either a dealer from arizona or new albany ohio. thease two are very wise a$$ every time ive tryed to deal with them, dont give them your buisness.

I have had the same conversation with Graff and Sons

10 bucks to search for a lot you don't pay it if your order it

Yep.. it was Graff and Sons. Still.. if the lot number is not what I am looking for, I don't think I should pay them 10 bucks just to look on the computer, its on there invoice for crying out loud.

That's like calling your local gun shop and asking if they have in stock a certain kind of gun, then the gun dealer says.. that will be 10 bucks for me to go look. And if I have it I wont charge you if you buy it, but if I don't have it in stock that will still be 10 bucks.

DanK,
what lot number are you looking for. That question was asked by Les and he is right. It's possible that it is available near you or at a match near you. I'll keep in mind to not do business with Graff and Sons. But what are you looking for?

When I went to my first match with my daughter, I think it was Bill Nienow that gave me box of Eley Match EPS MJ4275 1068fps to try out.. It shot really well for me and I was looking for a couple more boxes to prove my rifle liked it.

I figured I wouldn't find exactly what I was looking for because the box was from 2004 I think, so I started to look at Eley Match EPS ammo with the same speed in machine 4.

Hope I am doing all this right
