Ammo and tuner questions

After you find a lot and speed of ammo your rifle likes, do you try to stay close to that speed when you run out. or in other words does your gun seem to like a certain speed. And two after tuning to a lot and speed and you change ammo does the tuner stay close?

I use Lapua. I never have to change the tuner setting, lot to lot. For example, last year I switched from Master M to Center X and no change on two rifles. In the past I have found a slight change in action screw torque was needed but not with this latest change. I have never changed with weather conditions either, but I remember last year in April I had my worst performance in 16 years at this game. 30 mph winds, 30's temperature with snow flurries and my worst scores ever. Maybe I should have tweaked my tuner.:)

To answer your first question, yes for simplicity and expense. One of my rifles likes the faster stuff and doesn't care what machine # you put through it. The other rifle likes machine 1 and 3, in the mid 1050, to lower 1060's. If i have enough money to spend will try other speeds and lots. This is shooting Eley ammo. Remember what the speed on box shows is not necessarily the actual speed through a given rifle.

Have recently tested some Lapua, with no change in tuner setting, if not it should be within a full turn either way on a Harrell's tuner, probably closer to a half.

Done a little testing this morning. Previous owner had tuner set to 177. I started on zero and tested out to about 4 a couple times. I ended up on 137 on lapua center x and prvious owner was using eley eps. So It looks like maybe after the rifle is tuned its at least in the ballpark somewhat. but it would take some others to chime in .
