We had some nice Warm weather, around 75F, mild breezes, though shifting as is usual here, Good turnout, with nine shooters, one coming all the way down from Oregon.

We shot the new for us International Type target at 25M as well as our
regular A36 target at fifty yards, firing three cards of 25 shots each at the short range and two cards of 10 three shot groups each on the fifty yard ones.

Long distance traveler Wayne Burns, using a brand new gun I had just
finished tuning for him the night before the match won the Long fifty yard leg with fine a showing for sure. While old-timer Roger Lovett took the marbles in the International match, using his 20fpe USFT.

I kinda fell apart myself, forgetting my .177 pellets in the
garage and, bein too lazy to run up and get them, the attempting to use some borrowed ones of a type I'd never even tried before, and later, once I had retrieved my "good pellets", I ended up using someone else's front and rear rest that just didn't work well for me, all on a hastily put together 20fpe rifle. But, all those thing were avoidable and just show how things can go if you are a scatter-brain.

Here are the stats:

International Match:

Name tgt1 tgt2 tgt3 >total

20fpe class

Roger Lovett 240/8x 243/6x 242/5x >725/19x

Tim McMurray 245/10x 245/11x 232/2x >722/23x

Wayne Burns 234/10x 239/7x 243/7x11 >718/24x

Larry Durham 212/0x 237/6x 225/6x >674/11x

Richard Woods 212/2x 209/1x 217/2x >4/5x

Tim Donaldson 190/0x 202/2x 217/2x >609/4x

12fe class:

Larry Pirrone 222/2x 230/1x 232/5x >684/8x

Fifty Yards for groups:

Name Tgt1 tgt2 >aggregate of 20 groups

Rich Woods .740" .686" >.713"

Looks like you had a good match with some fine scores being posted. And I'm jealous of how many you had show up. Nine shooters is very respectable, especially with them coming in from as far away as Oregon. Of course, this time of year I'm happy if just 2 or 3 show up with the temps being what they are. I mean, let's face it, ±20° is a whole different feel than 75°....

Good shooting, and keep up the good work!

If you study the PICS,you can see how doping wind is very challenging,...at 50 yards, the berm causes updraft/down draft conditions and wind shifts can be different from one side of target frame to the other,..so no one shooter has an advantage over the others by bench position....the 25 meter target frame location presents even more challenges,..not easy at all. Flags on top of berm only indicate direction/velocity,..so you must interpret flags out in front of target frame and they often indicate different wind direction than those on the berm......and everyone gets caught on the updraft/down draft... wind condtions get more difficult for each succeeding target.
The white Van is for storing target backers and range equipment...sort of a 'rolling' storage shed...lol

Of nine shooters, there were two sporting rifles, one springer with rest being USFT's..

Following the match,we have our Bar-B-Que with our own Iron Chef at da grill..

Richard,
Thanks for posting all of the great pictures. Great shooting by everyone.

I am surprised you don't use more wind flags. We use 3 to 5 each bench at 25 yards and 5 to 7 flags out to 50 yards. The best wind indicator I have seen was last week shooting in a blizzard watching the snow blow different directions on all 6 benches. You can't have too many wind flags.

Paul...when I took pics of range we had already put most flags away...I'm guessing, but there were at least 12 + flags + between benches/targets...

Here is a pic from last year...just 5 shooters..and before we started 25 meter....some guys show up without flags..lol..
