Airforce Talon SS or Condor for BR?

Yes, an other question about which rifle is good for BR.

I've been reading about air rifles for the last few months, and I'm still confused about which rifles to use.

It appears that the Airforce Talon SS or Condor have the power, pellet velocity, and relatively little recal, and Match german barrels and claimed high levels of accuracy.

Is anyone using any of these guns for BR and how well are they performing?

I would expect to adopt the rifle to my pappas one piece rest.

Would the .177 cal pellet which has a higher velocitybe less prone to wind drift or would the .22 cal 's added pellet weight make them more stable?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Dave,

I know very little about Airforce/Condor or Talon airguns, I have no idea how they would work for AGBR shooting however, as to your Pappas rest, the best "out of the box" PCP airgun that I know of that will work well with that rest is the Air Arms S400MPR-FT with the front rest adapter plate made for that S400 model from http://www.mwerksllc.com/

You may have to call or e-mail Jeff and ask about the S400MPR adapter plate, I'm not sure he lists it on his web site however he made one for me at it works great, the S400MPR-FT is very stable and repeatable and tracks perfectly with that adapter plate in the one piece rest...

Happy shooting,
Mitch & Shadow...

Help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a question have a single shot gamo big cat 1200 and i was wondering if i could by somthing that will allow me to shoot more than 1 pellet

:)

The talon /condor series do not have the best trigger for benchrest out of he box. There are a lot of customizing parts for those and I believe there is a forum just for those also. The mpr would be funds well spent.

As to the gamo question posed, there are many multi shot air rifles available. Check out Pyramid arms, they have a very large selection.

Help Again

i already have a single shot and i was wondering if i can make it into a multi shot

Convert "big Cat 1200" to repeater

Not practical. While there HAVE been breakbarelled air rifles offering a repeater function, it would be a technically difficult and prolly a very expensive job to do your gun compared to simply trading it off and buying a repeater.

There have been NO breakbarreled springer repeaters that have been commercially successful because they simply aren't that good.

Repeating airguns are best made on compressed air or co2 powered platforms.

Air Force rifles condor or talon would not probably be the best guns for bench rest shooting right out of box.. But there are lots of possibilities to tune AF rifles.

In Neatherlands there is 100 meter bench rest shooting where they shoot, as the name says, 100 meter targets with airguns. There has been at least one winner who shot tuned Air Force Condor. So there is potential in Air Force rifles to bench rest.

www.100mairgun.nl

Air Force Edge (Air Force's match gun version) could be very good for bench rest, if it is used among other bench rest match guns (ie guns which shoot in 500 - 600 fps range) to 25 yards or 25 meters, though that gun is engineered to 10 meter target shooting.
