i am buying a ruger air hawk for fun plinking will a 22 caliber scope be ok, or a regular rifle scope?

NO! It will destroy scope, Get airgun rated one w/ao Power burner scopes are mostley set at 100yds Parralex.....Franky
 
Scope for that rifle must be airgun rated. The reverse recoil of a spring/piston air rifle will destroy a conventional scope quickly as it literally tears the lenses out of their mounts.
 
after lots of research i am going with a Bushnell 4-12x40 Elite 3200 Rifle Scope
