Point of Aim

I'm new to BR, which is in Poland very unpopular almost unknown (yet :)) - I've been wondering - what POA is better (or most popular) - the circle in the middle or the square above it on the official BR target?

The circle, also called the mothball.

I know of nobody that uses the square at the top of the target unless the mirage is so bad that's all they can see. Good luck in benchrest. Maybe you can be the one who really gets it going in Poland. Our best to you and yours.

If the center is your POA, where is your POI? It must be distracting to aim and shoot at the same spot? And most of the BR pics, shows a hole in the middle...

Thanks - there is a friend of mine on this forum - Rafw - he's the real pioneer :)

At first I was putting the dot on the lower rh corner of the square. I lined up the vertical crosshair with the rh side of the square and I lined up the horizontal crosshair with the bottom of the square. The poi was down near the mothball. The disadvantage is that the crosshairs get lost in the black background of the box.

Then BillD told me about ScottD's system [ who knows who he stole it from :)]. I hold the crosshairs at 3 and 6 o'clock on the mothball. Vertical crosshair just touching at 3 o'clock and horizontal crosshair just touching at 6. This method has the advantage of only having 2 small areas to line up. POI is normally just outside the mothball at app 10 o'clock.
