Age Ole Scope Questions

I'm in need of a scope and mounts for a 500-1000 yard rifle. The rifle is a Remington 700 VLS in 243. I will be going to a 243 AI with a 1:7" twist, but not for alittle while. I'm looking at Vortex PST and Sightron SIII scopes. What are your opinions on these scopes? Do you have any other recommendations for me? For the mounts, I want a 20 MOA one piece mount. Looking at Nightforce, EGW, Badger Ordiance, or Talley; any opinions on these or other recommendations? Thanks in advance for your help.

I am using Burris Signature Zee two screw (2 per side) rings with inserts that keep the scope from getting ring marks, allow a variety of MOA options buy just changing around the insets that come with the rings. I have two Night Force scopes and one Vortex on my long range rifles and just ordered a Sightron III to try on a fourth. No experience, but have been reading a lot of positive things about them for the price.

Scope and rings

I have a Badger ordnance 20 degree base along with their rings on a 40x remington 30-06 with a nikon 4-16 tactical scope that has been on for 10 years now and have not lost my zero as of yet..Very tough setup but pricey! I shoot 500 yards alot and some 1000 and never had a worry. You get what you pay for.

The badgers are good but heavy as lead. If you want picatinny go with nightforce rings on an egw base. I hate when my gun becomes hard to carry because of scope rings

rings and base

Dusty you are correct on the weight for sure.. If I had to carry it I would use something Lighter...I only move it from the truck to the bench and then back...Steve
