AGBR Future

Can anyone tell me if AGBR is going to continue into 2010? There appears to be plenty of shooters. What are the other 18 clubs planning? Thanks,
Mike (mhopkins2@charter.net)

Salem, NY is done with AGBR as it stands today. We only have 2 shooters, but that's not the problem. There hasn't been an update to the AGBR website in so long that the 2008 schedule is still up on it. I can't justify sending in sanction fees, match fees (which I haven't) and buying targets with my clubs money to an organization that isn't providing anything in return. We've had 3 or 4 Springer class records shot here by Fred Blanck, with ZERO recognition. Anyone else know what the current records are in the 3 classes? Check the website:mad:
I've got a nice Rapid in a custom BR stock for sale if anyone is interested....Sure wish I'd spent that $2400 on something else:rolleyes: I'll have to sell it at a loss now. I'll even throw in a pile of AGBR targets.

Going to USBR air gun

I believe we are going to USBR airgun matches next year. The target isn't that much different, the classes are very similar and the website is current. Hate to give up on the airguns since they're so much fun to shoot.

Folks have reported difficulties opening my Link, so here is the full text :
I'm the director of WRAR, a 10 person air rifle club located at Southern Oregon. We thought we joined the AGBR group this past March. We paid the registration fee, purchased the scoring plug, the reporting program, and targets. I talked with Ron Lewis several times during our pre season and thought all was in order. We submitted targets and scores for our first three shoots @ $1.00 per target. To Date, which is the end of the season, our Club has never been registered on the Web Site, nor have any submitted scores been posted, and never received the promised code to access the web blog. In other words we have received nothing for over $150 invested. Ron Lewis has not answered e-mails or phone calls for the past month. I would appreciate hearing from other clubs who have experienced similar treatment. E-mail me at k7vx@rvi.net Thank you . Bob Lahde So. Oregon

I think what really happened is that some of the key people let their good nature overcome their good sense and they volunteered to work on the website or take care of certain administrative duties and now feel like they are working for free, being put upon, taken for granted, whatever. The economy tanking didn't help.

I tried to put on some matches. At the first I had 3 other shooters but that was it. At the next two scheduled matches nobody showed up. I pulled the BR stock and scope off my rifle and put the target stock and a hunting scope back on it.

I will eventually use up the 200 targets I ordered by using them for practice with my rf.

I don't think that is a correct assessment of the problem. The only person I know of for sure that was working on the web site, had some major health problems.

Actually, I have talked to the fellow running the AGBR web site on the phone and he is no longer shooting airguns due to a change in his regular employment status, his new employment requiring his full attention and he has sold his airguns and quit airgun shooting. As he developed and owns the AGBR web site independently, it is not part of AGBR directly, and he expects someone to pay him for it to take it over. To the best of my knowledge, the AGBR web site has little to nothing to do with what goes on in AGBR and this is a major problem with making AGBR healthy as a shooting organization as I see it...

Its my opinion that what is needed is to either find a new home for the existing website or to replace it completely, that is something that can be reasonably easily accomplished if that is what people involved with AGBR want to have happen. As I see it the problem is finding someone with the motivation and skils to run a website who is willing to make the effort.

I'm willing to do what I can to help with whatever can be resolved about the web site issue, however with my home up for sale and a move from New England to Florida in the works, my time and availability is limited...

What is needed as I see it is for the people interested in AGBR as any type of organization is to put our heads together and come up with a plan...

Happy shooting y'all,
Mitch & Shadow...
