After an hour in the pond, my 205M's

The Federal 205M primers finally went to the range today. They
were soaked in water, all anvil up for 1 hour. Following that, they
were dried under a 120 watt light bulb for two days, then allowed to normalize
for an additional two days. All fired with nothing abnormal about the
groups. Had these primers been soaked longer or in a different position,my
guess is that there would have been some duds.

Soak them in oil for an hour, bet that will slow them down.

You're starting to get me interested in running some tests.

A week or two ago while sorting some junk under the house, I found a brick of 210 GM primers in a gold colored carton. I must have bought it before I moved to this house, which was maybe 15 years ago now. It's pretty humid here, where it was stored was a breezeway with open slat walls, so they haven't had the most desirable storage.

When I get a chance, I'll run them against some recent issues of the same breed over a chrony for group.

# 3A7483 throw em out. I have 2000 of these and they blow out around the bend and etch my bolt. I talked with federal and they admitted they had some like that, said they were older then 5 years, dont use them and pretty much to stick em where the sun dont shine versus replacing them. Great customer service for a defective product.

Primers in water

If I remember correctly, the primer mixture is made in a water slurry and allowed to dry before the primer mfg. process itself. Water shouldn't affect anything after drying out. Again, IIRC,

I have 2 boxes of winchester primers, that came in a wooden tray. Now,
for those of you that were born yesterday, Thats old. They shoot fine.
I have primers from federal that are over twenty years old, and they
shoot very well and those are not in turkey loads. An Hour in the Pond,
Means( they were soaked in Water) dried and all fired in a benchrest
rifle. The groups, both 5 shots were about average for that Gun. This
imply's that unless you store primers in your swimming pool, they will
stand the garage or basement etc.
