ADL to DBM conversion

I have a Rem 700 ADL and want to convert to DBM. Does the bottom of the receiver have to be modified for the DBM conversion? I have read conflicting information that ADL and BDL models have to be inlet because the DBM has lips on the magazine that assist in feeding rounds. Please clarify for me, thanks.

You heard correctly, the DBM has the feed rails cut back so the magazine does not foul on them. Try to get a look at a DBM rifle and measure it if you can to see how to mill it out.
The trigger guard and magazine cuts in the stock are quite a bit more generous than a BDL or ADL. The depth of the trigger guard inletting is critical to feeding as it controls the position of the cartridge for proper feeding. Another of those jobs that proves Murphy was an optimist.
