Does anyone actually know who makes Adams & Bennett barrels??
Thanks,
Chris

I believe they make their own. They are a part of Battenfeld Technologies.

They make only barrels for the Ruger 10/22???

Rich in Ca.

????

Someone told me that A&B was a trade name for Midway's line of barrels. They were made by the lowest bidder. The last several batches were to have been made by Shaw. I have no idea if there is any truth to this or not. That is what I was told.

Made elsewhere...

Adams & Bennet is only a marketing name for MidwayUSA......

These barrels are made through contract from "other" barrel makers...

Typical non-lapped button barrels... Tend to copper, though can shoot pretty good... Have had a few, a blank chambered to 22PPC it shot OK...
Two 22-250Ack Stainless barrels both fouled, one was... Well "decent", the other really shot pretty good.
On a plus, the blank I tried, was straight and ground on centers... Oh and cheap $.
Decent varmint barrel, not intended for Benchrest...

Adams and Bennett barrels

Check your Midway catalog or their www.midwayusa.com website. They make all standard caliber barrels that require threading and chambering. They have a relatively heavy contour. I used a 358 dia. for a project gun and it shot extremely well. I don't know how many shots to wear one out. For someone just starting to thread and chamber, you can,t beat the price, usually under $80.00. By decent bar stock as many have recommended for first practice and work up. You will not cry as much if you ruin a A & B barrel as you would with a $300.00 barrel. JMHO.

I just finished a google search and found they are in fact made by A&B.

They also make replacement barrels for many other manufactures.

The site shows them button rifled barrels. Don't know how they can be produced for such low prices?

Low End Barrels

You Get what you Pay For,

Cheap stock/steel, drilling, reaming and buttoning don't cost much. Stress releiving and lapping are time and labor consuming. Most Higher en barrels are stress releived 2 or three times. Lapping may take several hours.

Just look at the quality of a Broughton, or Lilja, barrel.

Rustystud I agree you get what you pay for.
I had been working on a 17 BR project and found an Adams & Bennet barrel for cheap.I do all my own work so all I have to lose is my time and energy and a little $$$ if the bbl. didn't work.

I used a Rem 700 action I trued and a factory stock I bedded ,chambered the Adams barrel out to 17BR. I had formed brass back in the eighties from 7 BR brass ---big pain.Thru a load together last nite using 25 gr bergers & 22.5 Genco..

Results 4225 fps ,5 shots .333 " at 100yds. ,, 22.5 genco 3 shots bug holed.

I guess I got a lucky barrel.

I have used them on customers barrels for hunting rifles for years now and have had good success with them. Like Nat said, they are not meant to be Benchrest barrels, but the ones I have used in the past sure can shoot.

I built a .308 out of a VZ 24 for my son last year using an A&B barrel, it will shoot a box of 50 into a dime sized hole most of the time. That may not cut it for a Benchrest gun, but for an all around good shooter and hunting rig, it is hard to beat for the price. As what was said, I got what I paid for and more.
