action/chamber cleaning tool

Yes.

And no....

It's an action cleaning tool. Not an action and chamber cleaning tool. It has no chamber cleaning facility AFAIK.

May I suggest that for your chamber you use one of the cheapo segmented aluminum screw-together cleaning rods. Use only the tip section and set yourself up with two tips, one a plastic loop jag, the other a 30caliber bore brush. Use cleaning patches wrapped onto the bore brush and/or stuffed through the loop jag for cleaning your actual chamber.

For me (I'm anal about keeping my chambers squeaky clean and DRY, I believe that it aids in accuracy) I use the 30cal thingy first to dry the chamber, then the loop thingy to tickle around in the neck..... then a final dry patch pushed through and out.

Good tool though. It'll save your hindside sooner or later when you pull a bullet on the line.

Better yet make it for for about $6

Buy a wooden file handle, find a broken or old aluminum or carbon arrow with the insert for the point still in it. Cut the arrow off about about 16-18" behind the point (or however long you want the tool).

Drill a hole in the file handle large enough for the other end of the arrow to go in and some wood glue. Glue it up.

Get a Kleen bore or Montana Extreme hard plastic bore brush for either a 45 or 38 depending on size of your rifle. It will fit the arrow point insert and you are good to go.

Just use shotgun or another large patch to clean the chamber and the action.

The longer rod and handle make it much easier to use instead of the small ones with little heads on them.

Also, look around in............

your area for a dental supply house, or ask/call a dental office, find out where they get those rolls, and order a BOX OF THEM!! There's nothing more aggravating than getting ready to perform some cleaning of your rifle, and find you'll be deprived of the orgasmic pleasure of cleaning the tender recesses where your lovely bolt's lugs engage. Nighty-Nite. :D;)

Ooohhh, I'm not sure I'm completely comfortable with this talk of tender recesses and lovely bits....

Your welcome! I'm glad I was able to help. Sinclair carries some nice products. I have quite a few. :)

p5200 ...

Hi abintx, I have the action/chamber kit already in my cart at Sinclair and, was wondering if this would be the bore guide I should order also. http://www.sinclairintl.com/product/Sinclair-ORing-Rod-Guide-223-Family1/Savage-10-12-110-112 or, do they have a better choice for the Savage 10fp? Thanks! :)

Call them at their 1-800 number. They'll tell you EXACTLY what you need. Also, many guys swear by the Lucas bore guide: http://www.6mmbr.com/catalog/item/1433308/954882.htm. You might also want to check that one out. :)
